How do I add a new printer alias to PatientWorks?

1. Log into the PatientWorks server.
2. Install the new printer on via the Windows Printers and Faxes control panel.
a. For instructions to add the printer to Windows refer to your network documentation.
3. Launch PatientWorks Server Administrator.
a. Be sure to log into the correct repository for which you intend to add a printer alias.
4. Select ‘Printer Aliases’ in the upper left corner of the screen.
5. In the lower right side of the screen select ‘Add New’
6. A new line will be added to the list of aliases and printers.
a. Type the terminal ID in the left column
b. Double-click the right column
c. Select a printer from the list that appears in the pop up and click ‘OK’.
7. Select ‘Apply Changes’ button in the lower right corner of the screen.

* If PatientWorks Security is enabled complete steps 8 – 11.

8. In the left side of Server Administrator click on ‘Security Options’
9. In the top of the right section select the first group listed which will use the new printer alias.
10. Click on the ‘Printer Aliases’ tab and click next to the new printer twice to the check box is marked.
a. Complete steps 7 – 9 for additional groups who need access to the new printer.
11. Once all the groups have been given access to the printer click the ‘Apply’ button.
12. The new printer is now available to print via Print Manager.

• Additional changes may be needed in order for the new printer to be used by your Workflow. For instructions how to do make changes to your workflow refer to your PatientWorks documentation.
