Purchasing Printers

Our facility is adding printers and I want to make sure we get the right printers for use with PatientWorks. What model and brand laser printer should I purchase for use with PatientWorks?

Any laser printer that supports PCL Version 5e will work. Optionally, you may add between 3 and 5 high capacity trays depending on the number of supplies you intend to use. 32 MB of internal RAM is recommended for any laser printer PW will utilize. Also, a printer with duplex capability may be used if your organization intends to print on the front and back of any forms.

One important note is to try and keep the same manufacturer for all printers. This avoids forms printing to the wrong tray. This is due to a difference in the way PCL (printer command language) print jobs are interpreted by the manufacturers. This problem is most often seen when HP and Lexmark printers are used together in the same environment.
